POKOTABI / Yaguma
喫茶ヤグマ
Along Omori-kita, Yaguma delivers generous cafe fare, from salmon and seasoned cod roe rice ball sets flanked by homestyle side dishes to loaded sandwiches and comforting omurice.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set along a street in Omori-kita, Yaguma turns heads with an onigiri spread that feels far more generous than typical cafe fare. The plate arrives carrying two substantial rice balls filled with staples like salmon or tarako seasoned cod roe (or spicy mentaiko). Around them sits an abundant assortment of small side dishes—such as rolled tamagoyaki omelet, potato salad, nikujaga beef-and-potato stew, or goya champuru bitter melon stir-fry—alongside a bowl of hot miso soup and occasionally fresh fruit or a sweet bite, making for a genuinely filling lunch.
Doors open in the morning from 8:00, offering traditional breakfast choices of toast and boiled eggs as well as an onigiri morning set for a calm start to the day. Western-style kissaten staples also draw regulars, notably thick mixed sandwiches stuffed with fillings and unpretentious, classic omurice omelet rice served in satisfying portions.
A carefully brewed hot coffee makes an easy finish to a meal. Seating inside is limited and payment is cash only, so carrying coins or paper bills beforehand is recommended.
